a feast!

The lack of blogging is due to many things after Thanksgiving..

  • Moving to Sugarhouse (pictures to come once everything is completed)
  • The mortifying long recovery of wisdom teeth removal + dry socket
  • Christmas festivities and family gatherings
  • Holiday shopping at work aka me so tired..
  • and i'm just still adjusting to all the changes around me (including the weather)

But, amongst all the chaos I had a beautiful breakfast fit for kings, with my dearest friends/ coworkers. Breakfast is my favorite meal after all!

(jealous? I know.)

give thanks

As I am stuck at home medicating and recovering from getting my wisdom teeth out.. I thought I'd take the time to say a few things that I am thankful for as tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. I am thankful for my family. With everything we have been through, I still love and adore everyone of them. I am thankful I have a descent paying job in this tough economy. I'm thankful that i'm healthy as a horse. I'm thankful for delicious food that I miss at the moment (a liquid diet is not for me. I'd die for some real food right now). I am thankful for my friends and my precious pets. I am thankful to live in an amazing country. There is just so much to be thankful for right now and

I love the Holiday season!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

(oh the misery of impacted wisdom teeth removal on Thanksgiving)

losing my wisdom..

I get my wisdom teeth out on Tuesday and i'm a little nervous. Okay so that was an understatement.. i'm very nervous. I keep waking up in the middle of the night about it. Yes I am a baby. But in the mean time, wish me luck!..
Also..
I saw New Moon this week, loved it (not as much as the books though I will admit).I had IN-N-OUT 3 days in a row at the new location in Draper, also loved it. I bought a new vintage dress from decades, love it so much. And I finally found some knee high boots that I love. Talk about a good week :)

temper

I have a RED HOT TEMPER and i'm having a hard time controlling it right now..
I'm only human after all.
Usually when I am upset, I shop..but.. I am out of money. Due to bills of course.. and shopping in excess. So, for now I will just write this pointless blog about being upset.

Thanks for listening.

WTWTA

I recommend the following movie..

I was really impressed with Where The Wild Things Are. I didn't know how they'd make such a short book into a cinema movie. Although geared to an older crowd than most imagined, I loved everything about it. The sense of family. The color and cinematography. The costumes and the perfect actors. Did I mention the music!? (Soundtrack is amazing-buy it.)
Bravo Spike Jonze, very beautifully and romantically done. Go see it!

Autumn

Hello Autumn.
Today I felt your chill, and by chill I mean it was too cold. A cardigan is no longer going to keep me warm enough as I walk out to my car... Please don't leave too quickly, I beg you. Besides, I don't have a coat yet.
I am not ready for winter, thanks.
Love,
me

fall fall falling

Happy 1st day of autumn! I love fall. Probably my favorite season. It's amazing outside. Couple things on my mind;

I went to the state fair on Sunday. I tired deep fried oreos..surprisingly good. Got some cute silver feather earrings. Saw the words smallest woman, real. Fell for the woman with the body of a snake, fake. Enjoyed the animals. Next year I am going on the rides and staying much longer.

It's the week of my 20th birthday. Always exciting. Younger than all of my friends, but trying to savor life and being young. Life goes by too fast. Hopefully I'll do some fun things this weekend to celebrate that I can blog about later.

Trying to plan a trip to San Fran to visit my sister. Probably going to be worth the money although, I need to be saving to be back in school. Just need to find a flight...

Well, enjoy the weather and beauty while it lasts!

Ode to the Vampires

Despite loosing all of the music on my ipod for the second time this year i'm am going to not complain about it and instead write about my new love for vampires. I've got to get it out of my system so just let me. On Sunday I finished the Twilight saga. I jumped aboard the ship of Twilight fans (a little late I do admit). And.. I might just now be the captain of that fan ship! I'm obsessed! It all started when, after refusing to join such a stupid trend, I ended up watching the Twilight movie alone in my room a sleepless night. After having some indescribable need to watch it again soon after I realized I was going to read the books no matter how much I hated everyone that loved them. Now I love them. And I want an Edward. Oh the irony. I'm getting midnight movie tickets to New Moon and i'm pretty excited after watching the full length trailer that was just realised...

Thrilling, isn't it!? On that note, on A.A. Bondy's new cd my favorite song is ironically 'Oh The Vampyre'. Look it up! The bonus track country version is great too.

positivity?

I'm trying this new thing called staying positive? So to practice, I'll start with the good of today Tuesday September 1st:
  1. It's September the month of my birthday and Gossip Girl starts again this month
  2. A.A. Bondy (one of my favorite musicians) came out with his 2nd album today and I bought it on amazon :)
  3. 'The Time Traveler's Wife' the book I bought online ages ago finally came in the mail today. I guess you could say my "replacement book" came today since the first one was lost in shipping..
  4. I discovered the best channel on Pandora online radio. I typed in Bon Iver and so far Bon Iver, Jose Gonzalez, Fleet Foxes, Iron & Wine, M. Ward, Wilco, The Shins and Sigur Ros have come on, talk about my new favorite channel!
  5. I got a free meal at cafe rio today. It. Was. Glorious.
  6. Work was really calm and lazy today
I could probably match all of these with a negative but i'm not going to because that isn't the point of this blog ha. Good night!

Trapeze Swinger

Dear Twilight concert series- you've succeeded to satisfy me this year, especially last nights Iron & Wine concert!
(picture to the right-Ashley and I way too excited for the concert to start. Picture below- me with my best friend Kylee)
I've put off writing this blog because i'm am literally speechless and I have no idea what to say, it was that good.. Samuel Beam how your voice melts my heart even though you resemble a skinnier faced Zach Galifianakis in my mind ha. Although my favorite Iron & Wine song, is and always will be, 'Flightless Bird American Mouth' (no not because its playing during the last scene of the Twilight movie) the song that stole the night for me had to be hands down 'Trapeze Swinger'. Something about it being just Samuel and his acoustic guitar made this song sound magical, even though it was the short version. Here is a beautiful verse;
Please, remember me
As in the dream
We had as rug-burned babies
Among the fallen trees
And fast asleep
Aside the lions and the ladies
That called you what you like
And even might
Give a gift for your behavior
A fleeting chance to see
A trapeze
Swing as high as any savior

I would pay some serious money to see Iron & Wine in concert again! Thanks Ash for enjoy the concert with me :)

little beauty

Look at this little beauty that was hiding in my basement. I am absolutely committed to learn how to use her from this moment on. Then I can sew and alter everything until my heart is content. Isn't that just great!? Isn't she just great!? It's my Grandma's. I actually believe that she wants it back... but she won't get it until i'm done :)

bead fairy stupid money hogger...

I decided to be crafty make some necklaces. So I went to my local bead fairy and as I walked in the door idea after idea hit me. So, I go crazy! I made 2 beautiful silver multi chain necklaces, a gold long chain necklace, a gold short chain necklace, and a silver necklace with giant loops that i'm going to weave black ribbon through. They were all so simple yet so beautiful. So i'm thinking I spent about 20 bucks looking at the beauties I just made and completed and when she rings its all up the total was $73.20!!!!!!!! I spaced even looking at the price of all the chains (which they charge by the foot). I made a 4 ft long necklace with 2 more chains slightly shorter. The loop necklace is 3 ft and it was $4 per foot. Gah I am such an idiot. Moral of the story is, i'm an idiot and money ruins my life. But seriously if you're going to make a necklace look at the pricing of everything! It ended up being about $14 per necklace which isn't bad. I just felt like such simplicity should cost so much less...
On the other hand my holga came today!!!!! YIPEE!!!!! FINALLY!!!! I bought it off ebay for $36.99 plus free shipping and a free roll of 120 film BUT the film that was supposed to come with my camera never came :( So its a bitter sweet feeling that i'm feeling right now. Anyways here is my new baby:
